Dear Reader,

According to the World Population Clock, there are 7,720,515,559 people on the planet at this moment. Add more or less 250,000 for every day passed since the publishing of this post.

Now, what’s the matter about this fact? Let’s take the long road before posing a revealing question.

Under the hypothesis of dedicating one second to what every person on the blue planet thinks of you, that number would convert to 244 years, 297 days, 19 hours, 39 minutes and 19 seconds (ignoring leap years) of uninterrupted time. If you need to sleep and do other menial activities, that time will increase by at least fifty per cent.

Question: how much time should I devote to what other people think of me/my work?

The answer is straightforwardly simple: no time at all. At least, nothing compared to that enormity.

I try every moment to ignore the opinion of others, with the only exception of the people I trust most, starting from my family. And yet, I do not consider that to be “opinions about me”, but rather “good advice”.

Until next time, hack at external opinions like there is no tomorrow.
